The Chicago Blackhawks made their latest round of cuts in training camp, with some surprises

On Sunday evening, the Chicago Blackhawks dropped their third pre-season game in four attempts, falling on the road to Detroit 6-3. It was the worst defensive output far ‘Blackhawks preseason, as they had allowed only three goals in the three previous games combined.

Things can seem a little more normal in the last two preseason games for the team, with the first on Tuesday. The Red Wings will visit the United Center, and guys like Corey Crawford, Jonathan Toews and Marian Hossa will be back with the team. We could see the coach Joel Quenneville rolling a fairly steady range going forward.

But as far as the alignment of training camp going, the Blackhawks have made some cuts in them this morning.

Forwards Luke Johnson, Tanner Kero and Martin Lundberg, defenders Erik Gustafsson, Robin Norell and Ville Pokka and goalkeeper Lars Johansson were sent to Rockford, while Chris DeSousa and Jake Dowell attackers were released from their contracts.

The Blackhawks also placed on waivers forwards Pierre-Cédric Labrie, Sam Carrick and Spencer Abbott, and defenders of Cameron Schilling and Viktor Svedberg.

This leaves the Blackhawks with 17 forwards, eight defensemen and three goaltenders coming October 12 opening of the season.
